How does a business become a certified B Corp?
Certifying as a B Corporation goes beyond product- or service-level certification. B Corp Certification is the only certification that measures a company’s entire social and environmental performance. B Lab's "B Impact Assessment" evaluates how a company’s operations and business model impact their workers, community, environment, and customers. From supply chain and input materials to charitable giving and employee benefits, B Corp Certification proves your business is meeting the highest standards of verified performance through this third-party process.
B Corps are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.
Net Zero by 2030
The Certified B Corporation movement is about leadership. All B Corps sign a "Declaration of Interdependence" stating the belief, "That all business ought to be conducted as if people and place mattered [...] and thus we are responsible for each other and future generations." All B Corps make a legal commitment to conduct business with consideration for the environment and all stakeholders, not just shareholders.
With this grounding principle at the forefront, the B Corp movement is making strides together to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2030.
Net Zero means achieving a state in which the activities within the value chain of an organization result in no net impact on the climate from greenhouse gas emissions. This is achieved by setting and pursuing an ambitious 1.5℃ aligned science-based target and then compensating for any remaining emissions by purchasing certified carbon removals.
MiiR is now aligned with the Science-Based Target Initiative and has committed to reducing "absolute scope 1" and "scope 2" GHG emissions by 46% by 2030 from a 2019 base year, and to measure and reduce its "scope 3" emissions.
Today, we affirm our commitment to collective and immediate action to halt and reverse the current climate trajectory and to build an economic system whose purpose is to create shared and durable prosperity for all and for the long term.
